At Lids, our Assistant Store Managers play a key leadership role—supporting the Store Manager while driving passion for sports, fashion, and personal expression. Whether assisting loyal fans or casual shoppers, our Assistant Store Managers are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience and leading the team toward consistent sales and operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Sales and Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service to generate sales and build brand loyalty
- Achieve or exceed individual and store performance goals
- Provide coaching and feedback to associates on sales performance
- Ensure all visual guidelines are followed, including merchandising and cleanliness
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company dress code
- Safeguard company assets by following Lids retail policies and procedures
- Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while controlling labor costs
- Support inventory management including receiving, transfers, markdowns, and product counts
- Accurately complete required documentation and comply with local, state, and federal laws
- Open and close the store following established procedures
- Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise team members in the absence of the Store Manager
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and, if necessary, disciplinary action
- Help recruit, train, and onboard new associates
- Lead by example on the sales floor and foster a positive team culture
- Enforce company policies and ensure proper handling of store inventory and funds
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least one year of retail experience, preferably in a supervisory role
- Demonstrated ability to drive sales and control shrink
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using computers and retail software
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg and work overhead using ladders
- Able to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Availability to work a Sunday to Thursday schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
