Retail Store Assistant Manager Jobs in Steve Madden Santa Clara, CA

The Store Assistant Manager works alongside the Store Manager to oversee all store operations. This role plays a key part in leading, developing, and motivating a team of brand advocates to deliver an exceptional customer experience aligned with company values.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Store Manager to drive profitability by ensuring consistency in customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community involvement.
• Deliver excellent customer experiences by fostering teamwork and motivating staff.
• Assist in executing visual merchandising strategies that reflect the brand.
• Ensure the sales floor is properly stocked with merchandise.
• Support compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and practices.
• Contribute to store functions such as training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory, store administration, cleaning, and customer service.
• Promote a culture of accountability and development.
• Operate the POS register and computer systems for processing merchandise or data.
• Help the Store Manager with hiring and onboarding new employees.
• Be adaptable and open to performing tasks outside your usual scope.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage people, services, and resources effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of key retail areas including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory, budgeting, and loss prevention.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to coach, staff, and develop team members.
• Ability to use POS systems and computers for merchandise processing.
