Accountant Job Description

Seaport Entertainment is looking for an Accountant based in our New York office for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller and as a key member of the accounting team, they will perform various accounting functions for the company, with a focus on our Corporate Segment.

Responsibilities:

Support with day-to-day accounting operations.
Analyze G&A expense accounts and prepare accrual journal entries as appropriate.
Record and reconcile all payroll and benefits entries weekly.
Manage end to end month end reconciliation and review process (Balance Sheets, P&L reviews, additional workpapers)
Ensure proper reconciliation of various bank accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
Post daily cash journal entries and ensure accuracy.
Identify, record, and ensure the timely capitalization of fixed assets.
Track prepayments and post amortization entries as needed.
Raise accounting issues and coordinate with the accounting team to drive consistency across processes and controls.
Assist with SOX preparation and testing.
Prepare quarter end 10Q/K supporting schedules and collaborate with various teams to consolidate data into footnote disclosures.
Assist with audit requests by preparing necessary documentation and analysis.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Handle other ad-hoc assignments as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
3+ years of experience in an accounting or financial role preferred
Knowledge of accounting procedures and principles with experience in supporting Accounting close processes.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics or other equivalent ERP system.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Highly organized with attention to detail
Thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Compensation range: 75k – 100K plus bonus and benefits
