The Administrative Assistant serves as a centralizing leadership figure within the school and the local community. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the school Administrator. The Administrative Assistant will tend to the issues that concern the school as a whole and will facilitate communication and build consensus among the teachers, staff, families and Operations and Instructional Leadership Team. The Administrative Assistant should continuously support and encourage the preservation of the Montessori philosophy through the school.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Administrative experience in an educational setting with demonstrated leadership qualities required
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
Proficient skills in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to locate and retrieve information from a variety of sources and to compile the information in report form
Ability to interact courteously and professionally with students, parents, other employees and the public, both in person and by telephone
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES -ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: DAILY OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT-
Oversees daily operations of school, ensuring a safe and friendly environment
Attends to tasks and responsibilities associated with successful operation of school (e.g. communication, security, maintenance) in an as-needed and sometimes hands-on capacity
Review all written documentation before being displayed or distributed (i.e. monthly newsletters, door notices, memos to parents, etc.)
ENROLLMENT-
Represents and explains the school mission and program to prospective families during a tour
Oversees and coordinates open house events, marketing of the school and recruitment of students
Informs parents and prospective parents of enrollment policies and Family Handbook
Performs all admissions tasks necessary to achieve school objectives
PUBLIC RELATIONS-
Coordinates all internal and external school communications
Maintains constructive liaisons with other educational institutions and associations
Facilitates communication among all of the school’s constituents and encourages their participation in school activities and events.
