This key leadership role supports the global Operations, Real Estate, and Product & Tech divisions, overseeing capital expenditure and lease accounting worldwide. You’ll collaborate with department heads to manage budgets, support strategic initiatives through analytical insights, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. You will also lead a team responsible for accounting and FP&A functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Divisional Budget Management
- Deliver accurate monthly accounting and forecasting in partnership with Finance Analysts, Department Heads, and other stakeholders.
- Lead variance analysis and manage global real estate, capex, and lease accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
- Collaborate with Division Heads and Finance Directors to manage and communicate P&L budgets, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Lead annual financial planning across divisions in coordination with senior stakeholders.
- Establish and enforce financial controls to ensure effective departmental spend management.
- Advise leadership on the financial implications of business decisions.
- Strategic & Operational Support
- Develop financial models and perform scenario analyses to support strategic planning.
- Drive process and cost improvements in collaboration with division leaders.
- Report on financial performance and key performance indicators.
- Global Finance & Compliance
- Contribute to global audits as needed.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies for journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Lead and contribute to various finance projects and initiatives.
- Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor Finance Analysts supporting the same divisions.
- Foster growth and development opportunities for direct reports.
Ideal Experience & Competencies:
- 5–7+ years of relevant experience.
- CPA or Chartered Accountant (required).
- Strong knowledge of lease and fixed asset accounting.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Advanced Excel proficiency; SAP experience a plus.
- Familiarity with the art industry or Sotheby’s services is beneficial.
