An HR Generalist is a versatile human resources professional responsible for managing a wide range of HR functions. They serve as a bridge between employees and management, ensuring compliance, supporting employee needs, and aligning HR practices with business goals.
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
•Partner with managers to define job requirements and write job postings.
•Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process.
•Prepare offer letters and manage new hire paperwork.
•Oversee onboarding and orientation to integrate new employees into the organization.
2. Employee Relations
•Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
•Address workplace issues, conflicts, or complaints in a fair and consistent manner.
•Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
•Support managers with performance coaching and disciplinary actions.
3. Benefits & Compensation
•Administer employee benefits (health insurance, retirement plans, leave, etc.).
•Answer employee questions about payroll and benefits.
•Support annual open enrollment and coordinate with benefits providers.
•Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation practices.
4. Compliance & Policies
•Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, EEOC).
•Maintain employee records and HR documentation (I-9s, personnel files, etc.).
•Update and enforce HR policies and employee handbooks.
•Assist in audits and regulatory reporting.
5. Training & Development
•Coordinate employee training programs (safety, compliance, leadership, skill development).
•Support career development initiatives and succession planning.
•Track training completion and maintain records.
6. Performance Management
•Support annual/quarterly performance review cycles.
•Guide managers and employees in setting goals and giving feedback.
•Help identify high performers and areas for improvement.
7. HR Administration & Data
•Maintain HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
•Track attendance, time off, and leave balances.
•Generate HR reports and metrics (turnover, retention, hiring trends).
•Ensure accurate payroll data input and coordination.
