Experienced Driver Jobs in Helen Keller Services for the Blind Hempstead, NY

We currently have an exciting part time career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a full-time Driver in our Day Habilitation program at our Hempstead location.

Responsibilities:

• To drive consumers to and from their program safely and in a timely fashion.
• Possess a general knowledge of OPWDD regulations and guidelines.
• Act as a liaison between the residence and program by delivering mail or program funds, if necessary.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the vehicle routes and have the ability to follow maps.
• Help individuals with their personal belongings as needed.
• Assist individuals on and off the bus safely and enforce proper mobility.
• Provide oversight to the individuals as needed.
• Complete all other assignments as indicated by your supervisor.
• Assist in the program as needed.
• Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned and maintained according to safety standards at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A High School diploma /GED and a Commercial Driver’s License required.
• Experience working with individuals who have a developmental disability strongly preferred.
• $18.00 to $19.00 per hour
