Sessler Macklin LLP, a well-established boutique CPA firm located in midtown Manhattan, is seeking a Senior Accountant with BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant industry certification (CPA is preferred). This position requires a self-starter who will help to handle the firm’s growing clientele. The Senior Accountant position provides opportunity for career growth, including partnership potential. Attention to detail, accuracy and excellent time management are essential. To succeed in this role you must show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws.


Responsibilities:

• Estimate and track tax returns
• Complete quarterly and annual tax reports
• Organize and update the company’s tax database
• Recommend tax strategies that align with business goals
• Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
• Share financial data with the accounting department
• Identify tax savings and suggest ways to increase profits
• Follow industry trends and track changes related to taxes
• Liaise with and external auditors
• In-depth analysis of clients’ books and records
• Client development
• Tax preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships and trusts
• Financial statement preparation
  
  

Skills:

• Previous work experience as a Tax Accountant, Tax Analyst or Tax Preparer (3 Years minimum)
• Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
• Familiarity with accounting software packages. Experience with UltraTax software is a plus
• Computer literacy (MS Excel in particular)
• Excellent analytical and time management skills
• Strong numeracy skills
• Ability to meet tight filing deadlines
• Keen attention to detail
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel
