Summary:

• Responsible for the proper preparation of a variety of foods in large quantities in order to meet the nutritional needs of patients within the Patient Care Center.
• Assist with the development of menus food preparation, service and accept reimbursement for food sold to the general public and employee population.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of and experience with food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods within an institutional setting preferred.
• Current certification as mandated by the City of Houston Health Department.
• Working knowledge of preparation of therapeutic diets.
• Understanding of Hospice philosophy of care.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Effective interpersonal skills both oral and written.
• Ability to accommodate multi-faith beliefs and backgrounds of patients/families.
• Ability to function effectively as part of interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to make decisions and direct others.
• Reliable transportation and/or reliable insured vehicle and valid Texas Driver’s License.
  
  

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Ensure that all food/dietary processes and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Assure sanitation, housekeeping and safety standards are followed; wash cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc as assigned.
• Assist in checking food supplies on food order forms as they arrive from vendors.
• Log off cash register per established facility policy.
• Prepare and serve meals per all established guidelines/regulations and that are palatable and aesthetically pleasing.
• Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times.
• Assist with scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policy and procedures.
• Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
• Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient information included protected health information.
• Serve meals within specified timeframes following established guidelines.
• Understands and adheres to organizational compliance and privacy programs.
• Assists in providing service that fosters the organization’s mission, values, vision and goals.
• Performs other duties as required and/or requested by management.
  
  

Experience:

• Food preparation 1 year (Required)
  
  

License/Certification:

• Certification by the City of Houston Health Department (Preferred)
