About OSI LaserDiode
The company was founded in 1967 as a premier manufacturer of solid state lasers. LDI became the leader in laser diode technology and collaborated on many of the laser based military programs which are still in use today.In 2000 LDI was purchased by TYCO Electronics. The demand for high energy, high reliability lasers for telecommunications applications made LDI a synergistic acquisition which enhanced TYCO dominance in the fiber optic space during this time.
