About HEART Tutoring
HEART seeks to ensure that all elementary students develop a strong foundation in math and enthusiasm for academics by leveraging the powerful resource of volunteer time. Community members commit one hour per week to deliver an effective, hands-on curriculum in one-on-one tutoring sessions during the school day in Title I elementary schools. Designed in partnership with CMS, HEART provides a curriculum that targets conceptual gaps of students. HEART also provides an on-site coordinator to support volunteers, students, and school staff. In the 2013/14 school year, HEART volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring twice per week to more than 100 students across Billingsville Leadership Academy and Winterfield Elementary School.
