Birdville ISD is the third-largest school district in Northeast Tarrant County with more than 22,000 students. The district's 33 campuses serve the community of Richland Hills and portions of Colleyville, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Hurst, North Richland Hills and Watauga. Since 2001, Birdville Education Foundation has awarded $900,000 in grant money to over 600 teachers in 32 BISD campuses. The Birdville Education Foundation funds classroom grants that promote academic excellence, stimulate creative thinking, encourage innovation, enrich classroom teaching and broaden life experiences. The grants have funded Smart Boards for math classes, preparation programs to master TAKS objectives, ropes course equipment for a bullying initiative, science lab sets, reading manipulative devices, IPods for deaf students and language programs for Spanish speaking students.
