The Austin Genealogical Society is devoted to advancing genealogy through wide-ranging research and education and to preserving the heritage of Austin, Travis County, and Texas. The society offers monthly meetings on a variety of family history topics, mini-seminars with leading genealogists, hands-on technology workshops, and research trips to major repositories. Members also enjoy a monthly newsletter and our award-winning Quarterly. The society's website provides numerous resources for out-of-area researchers, such as transcribed vital, church, and school records for Austin and Travis County. We have an ongoing project, begun in 1999, to transcribe the tombstones for all of the cemeteries in Travis County. The society also offers twice-yearly beginner classes for new researchers.
