The Staff Accountant will have responsibility for financial and management accounting including Assets under Management “AUM” and sales reporting, accounts receivable, client billing, third party distribution payments, contract administration, month-end closings, planning & forecasting and special projects.
Major Functions:
- Assist the Associate Director and Controller with all aspects of sales and AUM for MacKay LLC, MacKay UK and MKS Europe
- Analyze, prepare and report Institutional sales activity on a weekly basis
- Provide detailed quarterly sales and AUM reports to senior management and various departments
- Assist in preparing data for annual surveys – AUM, sales, revenue, performance fees and distribution expense
- Maintain accounting records in MacKay’s general ledger systems, preparing the necessary accruals and adjustments to report on both cash and accrual basis
- Prepare customer invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate billing
- Prepare monthly and quarterly distribution expense invoice support for third party intermediaries
- Assist the Associate Director and Controller to provide up-to-date short and long term financial projections
- Assist the Associate Director and Controller with annual budgeting and projects, as needed
- Assist in the reporting of Key Performance Indicators on a regular basis
- Assist in automation and enhancing of sales and AUM reporting
- Collect and analyze financial data related to clients
- Maintain technical competency for core responsibilities
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial supporting documents and metrics; coordinate data collection and in conjunction with the business units prepare qualitative analysis
- Manage relationships throughout the firm to ensure timely and proper delivery of information.
Job Specifications:
- Education equivalent to BA, BS Degree Accounting/Finance, or the equivalent work related experience, CPA is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge of month-end closing process, general ledger accounts and financial statements
- Minimum two years progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably in the Asset Management / Financial Industry
- Must be tech savvy in (Windows environment) with strong working knowledge of Excel, and common enterprise accounting systems software with Financial reporting expertise
