Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as a member of Senior Leadership, you will be the chief strategist in charge of supporting and nurturing our most important asset – our workforce. This includes leading the development, implementation, and strategic components of CSH’s operational elements in the Information Technology (IT), Administration, Human Resources (HR), Talent Development, and Belonging realms.
Strategy, Vision, and Leadership:
- As a member of senior leadership, provide seasoned guidance and advice, while highlighting opportunities and threats, to the President & CEO, Senior Leadership, and Directors on matters under your purview.
- Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, problem solving, and embody CSH’s values and commitment to equity and anti-racism in all that you do.
- Serve as the management liaison and staff to the Board’s Governance committee, including support of recruitment, by-law management and adherence, CEO compensation, and related issues.
- Contribute to the development of the organization’s high performance, strategic goals, and overall management of the organization.
- Stay abreast of best practices, industry standards, and CSH’s mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives to ensure that you can be a full leadership partner, with an expectation that you will actively contribute and participate in organizational conversations that extend beyond your span of influence.
- Lead and participate in cross-department and organizational teams, committees, initiatives, change management efforts, and projects.
- Represent CSH internally and externally as necessary, particularly in people and operations.
- Provide management with required reports, benchmarks, and timely key performance indicators.
- Supervise CSH’s Human Resources, Information Technology, and Administration Coordination teams, with an ability to serve as both a hands-on contributor and strategic thought leader. Ensure performance against work plans and deliverables. Provide budget monitoring and oversight.
- Human Resources, Talent Development, and Belonging
- Lead, manage, and implement the strategic vision and priorities for our workforce and people efforts, ensuring CSH has an eye on the talent needs of today and in the coming 3-5 years and an explicit racial equity lens.
- Serve as an activator, internal advisor, coach, and resource to team leaders and staff to cultivate a culture of belonging. Devise and formulate creative and concrete ways to address or prevent equity challenges and mitigate bias in programs, processes, hiring, retention, and promotions.
- Ensure robust staff development, including new staff orientation and training, and a development agenda for all employees. Ensure efforts support staff to be successful, connect to CSH’s goals, and create a sense of belonging.
- Build upon CSH’s success rate of hiring, oversee HR efforts to build a diverse pool of candidates, and coach hiring managers on equitable and inclusive hiring practices. Focus development and retention efforts on high performance, building the quality of CSH’s supervision, and continuous feedback.
- Proactively cultivate a leadership pipeline for staff as individual contributors and supervisors.
- Oversee the HR department, including accountability for CSH’s benefit administration, performance management, compensation strategy, payroll preparation, recruiting, employee relations, employee policies and procedures, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and other core HR functions.
Information Technology:
- Identify and recommend investments and updates to ensure CSH’s technology is up-to-date and is equal to or leading our industry peers.
- Lead IT staff and consultants to ensure seamless connectivity, data backup and information flow, and integrated applications that support CSH’s work.
- Ensure IT policies and procedures are current, and work with your team to provide continuous training and communication of policies to staff, ensuring staff compliance with all requirements.
- Through oversight of the IT department, ensure up-to-date and expansive cyber security policies, regular testing and auditing of our system, forecast and ensure the availability of equipment, and continually review and revise policies and practices to ensure the security of our system, while balancing user needs.
Administration Coordination:
- Ensure equitable and quality administrative support is delivered across departments in areas related to our technology support, supplies and equipment, event management, logistical support, meeting and video conferencing support, and the smooth operations of CSH’s leased offices. This is achieved through the supervision of CSH’s Administrative Manager and Coordination staff (currently 5 FTEs).
- Ensure CSH’s SharePoint intranet site is current, organized and accessible to all staff, with ongoing training and support for staff on its purpose and structure.
- Work with the team to develop and implement organizational policies and processes, with accompanied staff training, for administrative and technology operations.
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer and business support leaders to ensure our business continuity, record retention, and disaster recovery policies and practices are current and meet industry standards across our expansive geographic footprint.

- Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate how they have and will successfully lead, supervise, coach, and build the capacity of driven and diverse teams.
- The successful candidate will have had significant supervisory management experience with an organization.
