Run with a truck and get $73,000 paid: New job

American Trucking Associations (ATA) says, over 50,000 jobs are vacant, taking the last decade in account the requirement for a truck drivers has doubled and the decade ago the necessity was around 20,000.

Moving solid goods, groceries and other goods has been trucker’s primary role, with the shortage of truck drivers in the USA. The transportation business has seen a slight depletion.

Companies like Amazon which demands huge shipping happening around the clock within the country are facing a troublesome situation.

Some of the solid reasons behind the lack of truck drivers would be restless driving and the demand for break-less days of driving. Few drivers complain that they went on driving for continuous 10 days due to the shortage. The work-life balance seems to be a bigger question here, out of 1.6 million truck drivers in America about 750,000 are on road for a series of days.

According to ATA, Trucker compensation went up to 12% a year and the average wage for a truck driver is around $73,000 whereas the Labor Department fixed a the median annual salary for all truck drivers at $40,000.

Including women drivers into the trucking profession could be a solution but out of the 47% of working women population in the USA, only 6% are working as truck drivers. Though the solution here would be more people getting into the truck driving business, despite the will to drive, truckers have to be 21 to qualify and to get the commercial truck driving license.

But in the adverse end, the trucker path vice president quotes.

"They're having a very difficult time being able to recruit or retain [young] drivers," says Charlie Myers, vice president of Trucker Path, an app for the trucking industry.

Considering the numbers and situation, inventing a work-life balance schedules for truckers and increasing the pay slab would bring forth the change.
