The Praxis Project is seeking an organized, forward-thinking, creative, empathetic individual in the role of Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist). The HR Generalist is a newly created position and will be a trusted thought partner to the HR Team. This person will report to the Director of Human Resources and, under their direction, will serve as front-line support for HR matters for our fiscal sponsorship and internal team members. This person will run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, with an emphasis on helping Praxis to become an employer of choice- while prioritizing HR compliance. Education and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a nonprofit or public sector setting with an emphasis on human resources.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to engage and provide equitable treatment to diverse audiences, such as those with different cultural, or ethnic backgrounds, abilities, beliefs, perspectives, values, lifestyles and etc.
• Some experience in the fiscal sponsorship, nonprofit, or social justice space.
• Training or certifications in Human Resources and diversity and inclusion topics.
• Familiarity with project management tools, such as Asana, Monday.com, Trello, or similar, or a willingness to learn.
Essential duties:
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Support the Director of Human Resources, liaise between the PEO and various regulatory entities to ensure adherence to on-time employment filings and compliance standing.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Conduct regular research, maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and communicate updates to the Director of Human Resources, and the HR team accordingly.
• Request and organize necessary employment documentation from FSP contacts, verify consistency between Praxis fiscal sponsorship practices, and escalate concerns to Director of Human resources as needed.
• Implement Reasonable Accommodation program; fulfill candidate and employee reasonable accommodation requests- ensure candidates, employees, and partners have equitable access to participate in interviews, events, and/or perform their job-related duties.
