The Human Resources Generalist will ensure the agency’s HR operations will run smoothly and effectively. Having an understanding of the South Asian, Asian, Pacific Islander, and immigrant communities and cultures in our region is crucial to supporting the staff and interns we support. An ideal candidate is excited to undertake a wide range of HR tasks, like organizing training, administering employee benefits and leaves, and crafting HR policies. This position will also act as the main point of contact for employee queries on HR-related topics.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate hiring process, including posting job listings, applications review, scheduling and coordinating hiring team, training hiring team, preparing offer letters
- Recruit, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Compliance and record keeping
- Improve HR compliance through research, consulting with external HR experts, policy and procedure writing and reviews
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form according to legal requirements
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications.
- Coordinate constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise
- Support staff in the adoption and understanding of human resource policies
- Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates
- Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities
- Lead staff appreciation and morale activities as part of the staff wellness pod
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Respond to routine phone calls and emails
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration
- SHRM or HRCI certification
- Understanding of disability justice principles and how it relates to HR administration
- Bilingual/Bicultural
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- At least three years of human resource management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of general human resources policies and procedures, and best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR-related issues, employment-related laws and regulations.
