Assistant Cook

We are in the process of opening an Indian style Pizza restaurant in Saint Louis by end of June 2024. We are looking for part time assistant cooks with experience in Indian cooking (butter chicken/makhani, achari, tandoori flavors for chicken and paneer, Indian sauces).  

Duties & Responsibilities:

·       Follow standard recipes and direction to prepare food; memorize, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, and portions

·       Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients

·       Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.

·       Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible

·       Operate standard commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

·       Adhere to all sanitation and food production processes/procedures/regulations

·       Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances (fryers, pizza oven, and grill)

·       Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.

·       Execute opening and closing procedures

Qualifications:

·       Previous experience in cooking/culinary arts/related field preferred, will train on-site on Indian recipes.

·       Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation/cooking techniques

·       Able to follow all local, county, and state sanitation & health requirements.

·       Strong attention to detail

·       Works well with others, team-player, and positive attitude

·       Good communicate skills; be able to clearly communicate with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel

·       Follows direction, works and thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has the ability to multi-task

·       Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).

·       Be able to reach, bend, stoop frequently

·       Exert physical effort in transporting up to 40 pounds.

·       Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
