The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care within the philosophy and objectives of Horsham Clinic, following the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Care. The LPN is responsible for assigned nursing activities during shifts and supports the enhancement of nursing practice on the unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to adults, adolescents, and patients with dual diagnoses
Apply knowledge of behavioral mental health and clinical nursing practices
Plan, direct, and monitor nursing activities, demonstrating leadership to foster a positive work environment
Accurately document patients’ medical histories and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.)
Observe patients for treatment progress and medication side effects
Monitor fluid intake/output and maintain detailed patient charts
Assist patients with daily activities such as eating and bathing
Administer injections, medications, enemas; clean and dress wounds; support basic medical care tasks
Collect lab samples as assigned
Provide emotional and psychological support to patients
Communicate with patients’ families to offer advice, comfort, and discharge instructions
Use common computer applications for documentation and communication
Qualifications:
Experience working with adults, adolescents, and dual diagnosed patients
Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and patient care principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Leadership ability to coordinate team activities and contribute to a positive environment
Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard office software
