Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
Entering patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system
Counting pills according to the prescription, filling vials with medications and affixing labels
Processing, submitting insurance claims and accepting payments
Assisting customers by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information
Maintaining records by recording and filing physicians' prescriptions after being filled.
Maintaining pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs
Maintaining patient profiles and records of all medications given
Assist with patient medication deliveries or shipments by mail.
Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results.
