It all began with a better way to zest a citrus. Ben Willis, Yum Tools CEO & Co-founder, created the Zip Zester in 2011. It was an instant hit among chefs. During the fall of 2012, the company added 2 new blades to the Zip Zester for bartenders and mixologist that allowed them to quickly peel perfect cocktail garnishes. The changes resulted in 3 product innovation awards, including the National Restaurant Associations 2012 Kitchen innovation award. The product also received national recognition from celebrity chefs such as Tom Douglas. Home cooks took notice as well and by 2013 seven more blades had been added to the product. Ben teamed up with long time friend Joe Dieter to launch Yum Tools, a brand that would focus on revolutionizing food and beverage tools in the home. Due to it's multifunctional changes, the Zip Zester was renamed Zeeler.
