With a loan from his Grandmother, Bill Bentz started his construction company in 1977, after he graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Economics. He designed and drew the plans for his first house having learned architectural drafting in college. Since they didn't teach architecture at Florida State he went instead to Florida A&M for those drafting classes. Those few courses he took intrigued him to consider building instead of law school as a career choice. He secured all permits, and physically did the construction work himself and also passed the State Contractors Exam as a General Contractor the first year in business. The roots of W.A.
