The Virginia Institute of Marine Science, part of the College of William and Mary, and home to the School of Marine Science, is the nation's premier marine lab devoted to estuarine and coastal marine science. 50 faculty and 130 graduate students work with 200 staff at a 40 acre campus in Gloucester Point, on the York River, a major sub-estuary of the Chesapeake Bay.
