About University of Miami, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program is designed for the returning student who seeks to develop the critical thinking skills that mark a truly educated person. With the assistance of an academic adviser, students can design their own individualized course of study. The core curriculum of 9 credits provides students with a broad understanding of cultural backgrounds and lays the groundwork for the additional 21 credits of elective interdisciplinary study that completes the degree. The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree is awarded when a students completes 30 credits - 9 required and 21 elective. The last 6 credits may be in the form of a thesis or additional courses. Students who elect course work instead of a thesis are required to submit a final portfolio as their final project.
