Creating a Better Community Through the Arts Placing Teaching Artists in Schools Because of the Artists in the Schools program, more than 100,000 Wake school children see a theatre, dance or music performance or get a week-long artist visit every year. Established for more than 30 years, Artists in the Schools continues to grow in popularity at a time when more formal arts instruction in schools is being cut. Without the program, many children would not be exposed to art in any other way.
