The Stone Soup Leadership Institute’s book and educational curriculum Stone Soup for the World: Life-Changing Stories of Everyday Heroes gives life to the Stone Soup fable. Over 120 communities use them to inspire and educate young people to become leaders in their lives, communities and our world. Founded in 1997, the Institute is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.For over 20 years, The Institute has used the worked alongside those on the front lines of climate change, resiliency, social justice and economic equity: from inner cities to rural islands. We’ve empowered thousands of multicultural youth to become leaders in their lives, their communities and the world.We’ve developed eight Youth-Community Leadership Initiatives. The Institute’s Career Mentor & Job Shadow Day Programs and College Prep Programs prepare them purposeful lives and 21st century careers. We’ve synthesized lessons learned, developed a grassroots model and exchange innovative solutions and build resilient communities. We’ve used the Healthy Communities process and Design Thinking tools to collaborate with businesses, economic development departments and Chambers of Commerce in these communities.
