Smither Family Kitchen is a gourmet food company in Houston, Texas. Although we started our company in 2009, the Smither family has been in the retail business since 1837 when Smither Grocery Co. opened in a small wooden structure in Huntsville, Republic of Texas. Since then, our family has been among the connoisseurs of spicy foods, salsas, and the finest margaritas. Growing up in our house meant always having some fresh, homemade salsa and queso in the kitchen. Over the years we perfected the salsa recipe and it became a favorite of family and friends who convinced us we needed to take our cooking out of the kitchen and into the mainstream. In 2009, we started Smither Family Kitchen and our first major show was the 2009 Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market. We completely sold out before the show ended!
