ShapeU is a website (www.shapeu.co) that matches college students into groups of 3 or 5 based on their health-related goals (lose weight, build muscle, toning & definition), prior workout experience (minimal to extensive), and availability (time of day). Each ShapeU group will be matched with a professional personal trainer from the Recreation Center who will establish good habits/techniques, while the group environment will push the students to achieve more than they could on their own. In addition to our program, we also implement software that allows personal trainers to keep track of their students’ progress in order to give each ShapeU customer timely data to illustrate his/her monthly successes. Altogether, through a low-cost group subscription model, ShapeU gives students at Johns Hopkins greater access to personal trainers, and thus improve their ability to achieve their health-related goals.
