A new initiative aimed at overcoming one of the toughest problems in finding preventions, treatments and cures for orphan, rare and neglected (ORN) diseases…crossing the chasm from protein target to drug candidate molecule. Traditionally, this step requires screening many potentially active molecules – a time consuming and expensive process. That’s because until now, researchers had few alternatives; either they used less selective computational tools, and settled for longer lists of molecules that held less promise, or they consumed time and resources in high throughput screening, hoping to find a good candidate to take onward into development.
