About Prestera Trucking, Inc
Prestera Trucking, Inc was founded by Michael Prestera in the 1960s. The company's base of operation was located in Virginia, where for many years Prestera Trucking served the Virginia intrastate market only. The company's primary customer was the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, Virginia. After Mr. Prestera's untimely death (in the Marshall University plane crash November 1970), the company continued operations under the direction of A.H. (Dick) Meador. In 1975 Mr. Meador purchased the company from the Prestera family. Mr. Meador continued operating the company as an intrastate carrier until the mid 1980s. At that time Mr. Meador expanded the authority to 48 states and began servicing the Maryland, Virginia, and Tennessee markets.
