Pestec was founded in 1985 in Contra Costa County as an owner operated branch II structural pest control company. During the next decade of operation Pestec grew our residential and commercial pest control business in Contra Costa County. In 1998 Pestec bid and won a contract to provide integrated pest management (IPM) services to the City and County of San Francisco. The IPM partnership forged with San Francisco's Department of the Environment became widely recognized for progressive results in achieving dramatically reduced pesticide usage for structural pest control while improving pest management efficacy. In 2001 the San Francisco Department of the Environment was awarded the California EPA's "IPM Innovator Award" for San Francisco's foundational County-Wide IPM policy. Since then, municipal governments in the Bay Area and throughout the U.S. have adopted IPM policies and standards modeled on San Francisco.
