In September of 1991 I joined a firm specializing in Retirement and Estate Planning. After going through the traditional financial services training I became disillusioned. It seemed like we could do a good job for clients, micro-economically speaking, but lacked the tools to macro economically make sure that what looked good by itself was also good for the whole. I searched all over the country looking for the “ideal” planning tool attending meetings in Toronto, Hawaii, California, etc. I finally attended a workshop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that captured my attention.
