The focus of my practice is to help families overcome conflict without having to go to court. I have been practicing law for nineteen years and have spent many of those years in the courtroom, litigating my client’s cases. At some point during my career, I realized that this was not the best way to attend to the pain and suffering of families who are experiencing conflict. Even when we “won” their cases, by the end of the process, my clients were usually traumatized and felt betrayed by a system that had failed to address their needs, or the needs of their families. This was particularly true for families of other cultures who did not speak English. Having directly witnessed the harm my client’s endured with the traditional system; I began to explore mediation and the collaborative law as an alternative to help them resolve their conflict and move on with their lives.
