Molecular Templates is a venture-backed biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of a new class of targeted biologic therapeutics called Engineered Toxin Bodies (ETBs). The platform technology can be used to develop a multitude of different therapeutics against a variety of diseases. ETBs are comprised of an antibody fragment, that specifically binds to only targeted cells, and a proprietarily modified Shiga-toxin subunit designed to internalize and directly kill the targeted cell. These properties allow ETBs to be highly specific and work through a novel direct-cell kill mechanism of action against targeted cells while having little effect on non-targeted cells.
