Meridian has been in the recruitment industry for more than 70 years. Founded in 1936, the company was originally established as the Meridian Apothecary Agency, servicing the personnel and staffing needs of the pharmaceutical industry. The company was founded by Jack Berger, a 1931 Brooklyn College of Pharmacy graduate, who started as a pharmacist at Village Pharmacy in New York City's Greenwich Village. In the midst of the Great Depression, New York City already had three employment agencies that handled pharmacy personnel, but Mr. Berger felt he could do better than the others by offering more professional and personalized service rather than just casual treatment.
