In the 1950s, J.R. changed the name of the company to the Meadowbrook Meat Company due to the increase of meat offerings. In 1976, Meadowbrook Meat Co.'s focus shifted from grocery distribution to customized and centralized restaurant distribution and acquired its first restaurant chain contract. In 1979, Jerry Wordsworth, along with his siblings purchased and renamed the company to MBM Corporation.
