At Wheaton College I studied Education and Spanish. I enjoyed the small classroom setting and the quality of the instruction; however, what impacted me the most were the personal relationships with the professors who were supportive and encouraging. As a result, one memorable project was when I collaborated with a Spanish professor closely on a research paper that we presented at a conference. This paper was published in spring 2012 in the Journal of Christianity and Foreign Languages (JCFL). I was raised in Tepic, Nayarit Mexico in a missionary family whose work is Bible translation. This experience introduced me to the love of different cultures and the study of foreign languages. I hope to share this love for learning with others as I grow as a teacher.
