Prohibition was coming to an end, and Esther and Jack Houston opened the House of Vintages store in downtown Portland in 1933, offering wine and spirits to their patrons. After a distinguished career as an Air Force Pilot, John Houston joined his parents in the business, bringing new energy and a passion for the foodservice industry. In 2005, John transitioned out of his daily involvement in the company in order to enjoy retirement, and put a succession plan in place. Houston’s has since continued to operate within the structure laid out in that plan: to operate under the highly experienced executive team of Bill Paolo, President; Greg Dann, Executive Vice President; Paul Henderson, Chief Financial Officer; and Greg Estes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The tradition of excellent customer service continued to reign at Houston’s, Inc.
