Grimco Inc, is named for its founder William Grimm. From 1875-1970, the company was known as Grimm Stamp and Badge. In the 1950's, Grimm Stamp and Badge evolved from a manufacturer of police and fire  badges, branding irons and other metal stampings to a sign manufacturing company focused on the  opportunity of traffic signs. In the late 1950’s, Grimco introduced silk-screened traffic signs. Within 15 years,  screen printing signs became the industry standard. Grimco began selling signs to distributors and catalog companies in the United States in the 1980's. This proved to be successful and in the late 1980s, Grimco extended  their product offering to include sign supplies.
