In 1940, after serving his country as captain in the Air Force during WWII, Dr. David Tavel began his optical career and opened his first office in the Claypool Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis. His philosophy of providing excellence in eye care as well as offering stylish, yet affordable, eyewear at convenient locations proved to be a great success.Today, Dr. Tavel is a family-owned business operating 21 store locations across Indiana. Each store offers a range of eye health services that help patients correct and protect their vision. In addition, Dr. Tavel stores carry a large selection of designer frames and fashion-forward eyewear for Women, Men and Kids. More than 75 years later, Dr. David Tavel’s vision to help Indiana residents maintain quality vision and find their perfect pair of eyewear still remains today throughout all Dr. Tavel stores.
