Designs in Wood was founded in 1972 by artist John Ulery from a passion for creating art out of wood. What began with hand carved mirrors and armoires, developed into split wood bird houses and then custom, farm tables and furniture which we continue to make today. From the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, we are a family owned and operated business and the custom pieces we create are all one of a kind, rich in design and stable enough to last generations.
