Corazón de Vida (CDV), or “Heart of Life”, was founded in 1994 to address the dual issues of child homelessness and the acute lack of orphanage facilities and support to their caregivers in the state of Baja California, Mexico. The vision of CDV is nothing less than to eradicate child homelessness in Baja, Mexico by the year 2020. With no funds for housing, food or adequate social programs for orphaned, homeless and abandoned children, the Mexican government is simply not providing even the barest essentials for its youngest, at-risk citizens. It is estimated that there are 50+ orphanages in the state of Baja California, Mexico, housing approximately 3000 children. CDV now supports 15 Baja orphanages caring for more than 750 children. Over the years, CDV has developed a business model that sustains a finely tuned, highly accountable support system.
