Chainwheel Drive opened a small storefront at the corner of Gulf-to-Bay Blvd and Brookside Drive in Clearwater, Florida in 1972. Affectionately dubbed "Chainwheel" by local cycling enthusiasts, we began with a total of 12 bicycles and assorted accessories and parts in an 800 sq ft space. In 1979, the shop moved to Keene and Drew Streets and in 1985 a second shop was added on Highway 19 in Palm Harbor to serve the needs or Northern Pinellas County.
