Bruin Alliance formed because a group of UCLA undergraduates was unsatisfied with their student government and shared a vision for something better. These students were struck by how much campus politics resembled the negative tendencies of our country’s political system: slates worked against each other, special interests were overrepresented, and voters held an overall poor attitude toward the system. Something felt wrong about the backdoor meetings and secretive leadership. Even looking past the campaign trail, it seemed as if those in office were simply not accomplishing the platforms they set out to and that the vast majority of students had no idea what USAC is or does. As a result, USAC events were often poorly attended and inadequately executed despite the manpower, money, and countless other resources poured into them. Most importantly, however, this group of students felt as if USAC was out of touch; out of touch because its commissioners got so busy running their offices t
