Brightpoint Health began in 1990 as HELP/PSI, a treatment program to focusing on people living with AIDS who were also struggling with substance abuse. Within the overall tragedy of the AIDS epidemic these patients, primarily low-income people of color, were the forgotten victims. Most AIDS treatment services were not accessible to them. Brightpoint Health was there to help. We opened a 66-bed residential facility in the Bronx.
