About Boredom Busters
ORIGINS: Boredom Busters strives to cure the boredom epidemic affecting pediatric patients at local hospitals. Established in 2003 by the McCauley Family, Boredom Busters collected donated items for use by pediatric patients undergoing treatment in local Northern Virginia hospitals. After the loss of Sasha Burakow, in December 2003, Boredom Busters was introduced to Duke University's Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center by Dave Krauss and Charlie Benzyk who supported the program with funds from The Sasha Burakow Touched By An Angel Memorial Fund. The Duke version of Boredom Busters still operates today with continued support from the Memorial Fund. BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: In 2010, Boredom Busters established its first program in the northeast through a partnership with the Boston Medical Center (BMC).
