BackPack Beginnings' mission is to provide children suffering from hunger and trauma, with nutritious food, comfort items or certain basic necessities through the use of backpacks. By ensuring food and basic necessities are given directly to children in need we can make a positive and lasting impact on their health and well-being. WHY WE DO IT BackPack Beginnings was established in 2010 in response to the growing needs of underprivileged children in our community. This year an estimated 41,000, over 56%, of children in our schools qualify for meal assistance and over 8,500 children experienced childhood trauma such as abuse, neglect, homelessness, or refugee resettlement in Guilford County.
