Aztec Farms is the farm portion of CREATE, the Consortium for Research and Education in Agriculture, Technology and Energy at San Diego State University. CREATE is motivated by the unprecedented planetary humanitarian crisis. Our ability to meet the most basic human needs for food, water, shelter and energy (for heating, cooking, cooling etc.) is increasingly threatened by resource overuse, as our population increases, individual resource consumption increases and inefficient technologies continue to be used to meet these needs. CREATE is one small effort to address these needs in tandem, finding integrated local-scale solutions that hopefully can be propagated.
