About ASAP/After School Activities Partnerships
ASAP was created in 2002 at the request of City leaders to bring to public awareness the dangers of the afternoon hours for unsupervised youth. ASAP’s goals are: 1) to increase the number of safe, stimulating after school enrichment activities that complement curriculum-based learning and help students stay on the path toward graduation 2) to disseminate information on citywide after school enrichment programs in easily accessible forms as a service to parents, caregivers and youth workers. ASAP has become the fastest-growing organizer of after school activities in Philadelphia. Since its inception in 2002, ASAP has served more than 55,000 students in traditional and charter public schools, libraries, rec centers and other community-based settings citywide, with emphasis on areas with high crime, truancy and poverty.
